Orlando Pirates target Williams signs new five-year deal with SuperSport United

Williams has signed a record contract extension with Matsatsantsa, ending speculation that he could join the Sea Robbers

SuperSport United announced on Thursday that Ronwen Williams has signed a new five-year-deal.

The 25-year-old South Africa international was previously linked with a move to Orlando Pirates.

However, having put pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2022, any interest in the player has certainly dwindled.

SuperSport CEO Stanley Matthews is delighted by Williams’ decision to commit to the club, saying he's the first player to be offered a straight five-year deal.

“This is the first time we have given a player a straight 5-year deal and Ronwen thoroughly deserves it,” Matthews said in a statement.

“He has worked his way through the ranks from the age of 12 putting in many years of hard work in our academy and now in our first team. In a day and age where player loyalty is a rare commodity, we are delighted to reward Ronwen for his dedication and excellent performances at the club both on and off the field of play,” Matthews concluded.
