Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly held talks regarding Mobara’s services as a move to Bidvest Wits appears unlikely

Despite strong links with a move to Bidvest Wits, Orlando Pirates defender Abbubaker Mobara is now linked with a possible move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mobara was previously linked with a switch to the dethroned league champions a few months ago, but it looks like he was offered a two-year deal in Braamfontein.

According to The Citizen newspaper, Mobara’s manager Rob Moore was not happy with the offer from Gavin Hunt’s men.

The veteran football agent and former football administrator said Mobara wants security in the football industry.

With the Brazilians having Anele Ngcongca and Thapelo Morena at the right back slot, excluding Siyanda Zwane, who is on loan at Ajax Cape Town, it is reported that the 24-year-old is a favourite to join Sundowns.

Mobara was due to leave Milutin Sredojevic’s side and join the Clever Boys in a swap deal involving Ben Motshwari, but the move has since been cancelled off and Pitso Mosimane’s men now have a chance to land the player’s signature.

Should Mobara join Sundowns, he will reunite with former Ajax teammate in Rivaldo Coetzee who is yet to play for the Tshwane giants.

“Why would you offer a 24-year-old such a short deal?,” expressed Moore on The Citizen.

“He is still young and looking for security in the profession,” concluded Moore.

Moreover, the publication revealed that extensive talks have been held between the Ghost and the 2016 African champions regarding the services of the player.

Although it is reported that the player is injured, he has seen less game time because of his impending switch away from the Soweto giants.

Mobara has a year left on his current deal with Pirates and is reportedly set to replace Ngcongca who is linked with a move back to Belgium where he spent a decade.

With Wits' two-year deal not enticing for the player’s stable, Mobara could end up at Chloorkop, should the Buccaneers really be keen to sell their versatile player.
