Obafemi Martins scores in Shanghai Shenhua defeat

Obafemi Martins was on target for Shanghai Shenhua as his side crumbled to a 3-2 defeat against leaders, Guangzhou Evergrande on Friday.

The 32-year-old cleverly fired home a rebound from Freddy Guarin's free kick to hand the visitors a 2-1 lead on the brink of half-time.

His goal, however, failed to help the Flower of Shanghai to escape defeat as the hosts got two goals in the second half to secure maximum points.

The defeat sees Gus Poyet’s men drop to seventh in the Chinese Super League with 10 points from seven games - nine points adrift of toppers Guangzhou.

Shehua host bottom-placed Henan Construction in their next encounter on May 13.
