Goal reviews week one of the 2018-19 National First Division season

The 2018/19 National first Division season is up and running as all the teams were in action this past weekend with Ajax Cape Town, Richards Bay FC, Witbank Spurs, Stellenbosch FC and Maccabi FC opening their campaign with victories.

The Urban Warriors, who were relegated from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) last season, beat Jomo Cosmos 2- 1 away from home, thanks to goals by Samuel Julies and Prince Nxumalo.

AmaTuks, who parted ways with coach Shaun Bartlett and appointed Evangelos Vellios on an interim basis ahead of the start of the season, took an early lead at the Tuks Stadium through a Zithulele Mhlontlo goal, but Mxolisi Nkala found the equaliser for Mbombela United after a brief goalmouth scramble just before the half-time break. The game ended 1-1.

Newcomers TS Galaxy, who saw their supporters pack the Kameelriver Stadium to capacity, played out to a 1-1 draw with Cape Umoya United, formerly known as Platinum Stars.

The home side struck first in the 69 minute through Zairon Abrahams' long range shot, but Umoya levelled matters three minutes later through Nathan Paulse's goal.
