Mohamed Salah lauds Liverpool fans after contract extension

Mohamed Salah has sent Liverpool fans a message of appreciation after putting pen to paper on an improved five-year-contract with the side.

The Egypt international enjoyed an incredible debut campaign last season where he scored 44 goals across all competitions, winning the PFA, PWA and EPL Player of the Year awards.

Real Madrid were believed to be interested in his signing this summer but such speculations has been laid to rest with the 26-year-old committing his future till 2023.

The forward who has an extended break after participating in the 2018 World Cup with Egypt has applauded the fans for their support last term and he is delighted to continue his stay on the Merseyside. 

“Hello to Liverpool fans, I am very happy to say I have signed a new contract with the club,” Salah told LFCTV.

“My first year at the club was an incredible experience for me and my family.

“I have to thank everyone at Liverpool and to you our supporters I know we can achieve a lot of things together.

“I am looking forward to seeing you, see you soon.”

Salah will expectedly be absent when Liverpool take on Chester on Saturday in their first preseason game at Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.
