Mfon Udoh affirms Enyimba seriousness ahead of Williamsville tie

Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh has stressed the importance of their Caf Confederation Cup group stage tie with Williamsville AC of Cote d’Ivoire slated for Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

Fit-again Udoh could be playing his first game for the People’s Elephant on the continent this season if fielded against the Ivorians on Wednesday after the club completed his registration in time for the game.

He said the fixture meant a lot to him and his teammates judging by the outcome of their last game with CARA Brazzaville and that they are looking forward to returning to winning ways.

“The match means a lot to us,” Udoh told the media.

“We know that we are not comfortable because of our result in the last round against CARA and we are determined to get our bearing against Williamsville because we know a win could take us to the top of the group depending on the result from the other game.

“It is difficult to recover from such disappointing loss but we are doing everything possible to put aside the loss in Brazzaville and concentrate on getting a home win which will relaunch us back into the competition.”

Despite being in a precarious position ahead of the tie, Udoh informed that Enyimba will still file out against the Ivorians with the hope of entertaining their fans and also striving harder to secure the morale-boosting victory.

“We are not going to change our identity because we are desperate for a win. Enyimba is noted for playing beautiful football and winning too and both we shall serve our fans,” Udoh continued.

“We will come all out to entertain our fans and also beat Williamsville. We know the position we are but we are not going to play a boring game because we are in need of a win. We pray that the maximum points are ours at the end of the game.”
