A great gesture by the club for a fan in need

Paula Bedford is a devoted Melbourne City fan and the A-League club have shown the support goes both ways after pledging $5,000 to Paula's fight against cancer.

The mother of two was diagnosed with Duodenal cancer four years ago and after going close to beating it, was given the horrible news that the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes.

Told it can't be cured, doctors have suggested Paula go to Japan for specialised cell-based immune therapy - something that won't come cheaply and has seen her daughter open a Go Fund Me page.

Looking to raise $100,000, the Bedford's search for vital funds has seen their beloved A-League club chip in when it matters most with a $5,000 donation.

"Dear Paula, we're sorry to hear your news and wish you the best in your recovery," Melbourne City wrote in their pledge.

"Please accept this personal donation from the team and the whole club. Hopefully, it can help you.

"We hope to see you at a game sometime soon. All the best."

The gesture has left Paula incredibly thankful and, if possible, an even bigger City fan.
