Centurions Trophy Tour, presented by Etihad Airways, ends after Premier League

Manchester City celebrated the end of the successful Centurions Trophy Tour, presented by Etihad Airways, after the Premier League trophy and Carabao Cup visited 28 cities in 14 countries, across six continents, over 100 days. Throughout the tour fans around the world saw the trophies up close, met Club legends Paul Dickov and Joleon Lescott and cheered Manchester City on at City Live! match screenings. Cityzens also had the chance to vote for where they wanted the trophies to visit.

The finale, which took place at City’s most recent home Premier League fixture versus Bournemouth, saw the Club welcome four fans from China, India, Brazil and the UAE to the Etihad Stadium, who each had a memorable impact on Manchester City’s experience in their respective country. The fans enjoyed watching the exciting win as well as receiving a special finale surprise.

The first fan was Xiaozhou who queued numerous times when the trophies visited her home country of China to ensure she had a photograph with each one of her many Sergio Aguero shirts. She had even learned Spanish in case she ever met him, which became reality when Aguero surprised her at half-time and they spontaneously sang a football song together.

The Club met Aarnav in India when the trophies and Paul Dickov went to his school. He was reunited with Paul in Manchester and was a player mascot for the game, walking onto the pitch with captain Fernandinho.

Lucas saw the trophies in Brazil and is now a member of the first Official Supporters’ Club there. After taking his first ever flight he met fellow Brazilians Ederson and Fernandinho, as well as goal-scorer Bernardo Silva, after the match.

The last fan was Shaheen, who took part in a Trophy Tour social media campaign to have the trophies at his office in the UAE. He also met a goal-scorer after the game, as Raheem Sterling surprised him pitch side.

Nuria Tarre, Chief Marketing Officer at City Football Group, said: “The Centurions Trophy Tour, presented by Etihad Airways was an incredible experience for the Club and we were delighted to celebrate its finale with our fans at the Etihad Stadium.

“Last season was remarkable, and we organised the Trophy Tour to thank fans around the world for their continuous support to Manchester City. In every single location, we were overwhelmed with our fans’ reactions to seeing the trophies up close and the passion for the Club. We’re also proud to say that the trophies travelled for 100 days – the perfect end to our unforgettable Centurions Trophy Tour.”

Yasser Al Yousuf, Vice President of Commercial Partnerships at Etihad Airways, said: “Etihad Airways is thrilled to be part of Manchester City’s record-breaking Premier League win celebrations. To honour their monumental 2017/18 season, the trophy embarked on a global tour in which Etihad Airways flew the trophy to 28 different locations across 6 continents.

“Etihad Airways was delighted to share the spirit of the game in communities around the world, celebrating with football fans who may otherwise never have got to see the Premier League trophy.”
