According to reports coming out of Zambia, Mamelodi Sundowns are reportedly closing in on the signing of Zambia international forward Justin Shonga.

The 20-year-old is currently on the books of Zambian Super League side Nkwazi, and has seen his value rise due to his impressive exploits with the national team of late. Shonga has netted four goals in his last six appearances for Chipolopolo, and has subsequently caught the eye of Sundowns’ coach Pitso Mosimane.

Recent reports in Zambian publication ZamFoot suggest that Sundowns have already made an approach for the youngster, and a deal could be struck soon as Sundowns search for a proven goalscorer.

"Sundowns have already made an offer to Nkwazi. It looks like a done deal as both parties have agreed,” a source told ZamFoot.

"What is remaining is just the player’s personal terms," the source concluded.

Nonetheless, if Sundowns are to sign Shonga they will need to beat out fellow Premier Soccer league (PSL) side Baroka FC who are also believed to be keen on the Zambian star.
