Mamelodi Sundowns 2018-19: Caf Champions League, fixtures, transfers & first PSL match

Mamelodi Sundowns don't have the luxury that other PSL teams have as they are still involved in the Caf Champions League.

They take on AS Togo-Port in the return leg of the continental competition this coming weekend, a few days before their opening match of the league campaign.

However, they will consider themselves fortunate to have had a breathing space last week and work on their mistakes as they played a friendly against Kaizer Chiefs in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup.

The Tshwane giants used a few of their fringe players against Amakhosi, and looking at how they played, Pitso Mosimane has a team capable of competing on all fronts.

Goal brings you a guide to the Brazilians' 2018-19 schedule and their first PSL match with dates, venues and all you need to know.

The Chloorkop-based side returned early to prepare for their away match against AS Togo-Port which they lost 1-0 away from home.

Mosimane handed Andile Jali his competitive debut in Togo, and while the midfielder was criticised by a section of Sundowns fans, his performance wasn't too bad for a player who hasn't played in a long time.

The team's display improved in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup, and Mosimane would be hoping for more of the same in front of their home fans in Atteridgeville.

Sundowns' 2018-19 transfer activity

The Brazilians have been impressive as always in the transfer market, and without making wholesale changes, they have brouht in players who stand a good chance of playing regular football.

Andile Jali, Lyle Lakay, Jose Ali Meza, Katlego Otladisa, Toni Silva and Tristan Moses have all joined the club, while Siphelele Mkhulise has been promoted to the first team after spending the past two seasons on loan in the National First Division.

Pitso Mosimane has already confirmed that he wants to sign three more players before the closing of the transfer window, while at least three players will be released.

Sundowns appear to be back in the race to sign Ajax Cape Town skipper Mosa Lebusa, who is also on the radar of Chiefs.

The Premier Soccer League confirmed on Monday that the 2018-19 season will go ahead as planned despite facing a possible delay with Ajax Cape Town heading to court to seek an interdict.

As things, the new season will get underway on Saturday, the 4th of August 2018.

The league only released fixtures for the first matches, and Sundowns will be at home against Chiefs in their opening game.
