Real Madrid in talks with Lyon's Mendy


Real Madrid are in talks with Lyon over the potential signing of left-back Ferland Mendy as Zinedine Zidane begins a summer overhaul of his squad, Goal understands.

Mendy has not hidden his desire to join Zidane's squad and a transfer could happen in the first few weeks of the window.

However, he under contract with Lyon through 2023 and should the Frenchman prove too expensive, there are other alternatives for Los Blancos.

Liverpool's Arroyo set for fresh loan move


Liverpool's teenage full-back Anderson Arroyo is set for a fresh loan spell to aid his development next season.

The 19-year-old has been on loan at Belgian side Gent this season, but failed to make a single senior appearance for the club.

With Strasbourg and Nurnberg eagerly circling, the Reds are keen to ensure they are more careful with their choice of loan club so as not to hinder Arroyo's development.

Benitez wants £100m transfer budget to stay


Rafa Benitez has demanded a £100m (€113m/$127m) transfer budget in order to stay on as Newcastle United manager, according to 90min.

The former Liverpool and Real Madrid coach wants the agreement written into his contract, with the sum not including wages or money raised from player sales.

Benitez believes he can take the club forward, but only if he is given the money to bring top talent to St James' Park.

Alonso leaves options open amid Real Madrid rumours


Marcos Alonso has left his options open this summer amidst speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are in need of a left-back to succeed Marcelo and Alonso is one of the names to have been linked, along with Ferland Mendy and Junior Firpo.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are also rumoured to be in the market for a left-back, which could hand Alonso a route back to his native Spain.

Yokuslu's agent cagey on Spurs, West Ham links


Defensive midfielder Okay Yokuslu's agent was cagey in his response to speculation linking his client with a move to London with either Tottenham or West Ham.

He was, however, adamant that the Celta Vigo star would not be returning to his homeland, Turkey, and would remain in one of Europe's top leagues.

Yokuslu made 32 appearances for Celta across all competitions this season as he helped them stave off relegation from La Liga.

Spurs urged to sign Van de Beek


Tottenham have been urged to move for Ajax's Donny van de Beek by former player Darren Anderton, according to Sportingbet.

The Dutch attacking midfielder - still just 22 years old - has made a whopping 57 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 17 goals and recording 13 assists.

He scored in Ajax's 1-0 win over Tottenham in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final meeting in London, and clearly impressed with his performance.

Outgoing Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has been quoted as saying a "manager from Manchester is coming" to replace him at the Serie A champions.

According to a report in Sport Legnano, Allegri, who is leaving Juve at the end of the current campaign, made the comment at the opening of a restaurant in Dairago, near Milan. 

Newcastle track Cucurella after successful loan spell


Newcastle United are said to be monitoring Spanish full-back Marc Cucurella, according to a report on ChronicleLive.

The attack-minded left-back has made a positive impact with Eibar following a season-long loan deal from Barcelona.

The 20-year-old, who ironically scored against parent club Barca last weekend, is also a reported target for both Sevilla and Real Betis.

Germany boss Low welcomes Sane to Bayern rumours


Germany head coach Joachim Low has welcomed the prospect of Leroy Sane joining Bayern Munich, saying it would be "a good story" for the player, Bayern, the Bundesliga and the German national team.

Bayern are reported to be readying an €80 million (£70.5m) bid for the winger.

Pope pens new Burnley deal


Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope has signed a new long-term deal that will keep him at the club for the next four years, reports Sky Sports News.

The 27-year-old stopper, who made his Engand debut against Costa Rica in June last year, will remain at Turf Moor until the summer of 2023.

Pope missed the first half of this season after suffering a dislocated shoulder, but returned to action in December.

Arsenal ready to sell Mkhitaryan


Fresh reports in The Sun suggest Arsenal are ready to part company with Henrikh Mkhitaryan this summer.

According to the report, the 30-year-old midfielder is free to leave the Gunners after struggling to make an impact since his arrival from Manchester United in January 2018 as part of the deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move to Old Trafford.

Mkhitaryan has returned six goals and seven assists in 39 games under Unai Emery this season.

Rummenigge: Kovac's Bayern future not in question


Bayern Munich's executive board chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has insisted that head coach Niko Kovac's role at the club is not in doubt.

Kovac has steered Bayern to the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal final against RB Leipzig on Saturday.

Despite the obvious disappointment surrounding their Champions League last-16 defeat to Liverpool, Rummenigge said: "It would be crazy to make the future dependent on one game."

Dybala denies claims he wants to leave Juventus


Juventus star Paulo Dybala has dismissed the latest round of rumours linking him with a move away from the Serie A champions, after his brother suggested the forward could be looking for a way out of the Allianz Stadium.

Speaking to Argentine radio show Futbolemico earlier this month, Gustavo Dybala, who also acts as his brother’s agent, said: “There are many chances that Paulo leaves Juventus, he needs to change.”

However, Dybala has moved to quash talk of any potential Juve exit and insists the powers that be are fully aware of his desire to remain in Turin next season.

Lampard is Chelsea's pick if Sarri leaves


Chelsea will target Frank Lampard to take over for Maurizio Sarri should the Italian depart for Juventus, but the Blues would prefer waiting a year, report the Sun.

The Blues believe Lampard would be better served with another year leading Derby than jumping into the hot seat at Stamford Bridge this summer.

The club's hand may be forced should Sarri depart, however, with Lampard the chosen pick despite the reservations over his lack of experience. 

Everton sign Huddersfield goalkeeper Lossl


Everton have signed Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Jonas Lossl on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June.

The Demark international has signed a three-year deal with the Toffees that will take him through to the summer of 2022.

He will join up with his new club on July 1 and begin preparations for next season, where he is expected to provide cover and competition for first-choice shot-stopper Jordan Pickford.

Zidane pushing Madrid to pay up for Hazard


Zinedine Zidane is pushing Real Madrid to finally meet Chelsea's valuation for Eden Hazard in order to complete the signing soon, according to the Evening Standard.

Talks have stalled as Madrid have failed to meet Chelsea's price tag, over £100 million ($127m), but the Liga club are feeling the pressure after talks to sign Luka Jovic have also been held up.

Zidane sees Hazard as the club's top priority and is pushing Madrid to at least get closer to the Blues' asking price, having fallen well short so far. 

Man Utd make €40m offer for Dembele


Manchester United have made an offer in excess of €40 million (£35m/$45m) for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, Goal understands.

The French striker, who is being followed by several Premier League clubs, has enjoyed a productive first season with the Ligue 1 side, scoring 23 goals in all competitions since his move from Celtic.

Goal understands that the Red Devils have been following Dembele since his youth days at Paris Saint-Germain, with club ambassador Eric Cantona having endorsed the move for his fellow Frenchman.

Bayern Munich are ready to enter into transfer talks with Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed.

Bayern are in the market for more creativity in wide areas after seeing veteran performers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery reach the end of their respective contracts.

Sane is the man they are prioritising, although Rummenigge admits there are no guarantees that a 23-year-old who has figured on the club’s radar for some time will be returned to his homeland.

Andre Villas-Boas is nearing a return to football with the former Chelsea boss closing in on the Marseille job, according to the Telegraph.

Villas-Boas, 41, left football to participate in motorsport, but had his participation in it cut short by a back injury.

Marseille are in need of a new coach with Rudi Garcia leaving, and Villas-Boas has held talks with the club's director of football, Andoni Zubizarreta. 

€100m not enough for Joao Felix


Benfica have warned those casting admiring glances in the direction of Joao Felix – with Manchester rivals United and City said to be among his suitors – that €100 million (£88m/$112m) will not be enough to do a deal.

The release clause in the 19-year-old's current contract stands at €120m (£106m/$134m), but his current club are hoping to discuss fresh terms.

Manchester United have made initial contact with Atletico Madrid to discuss a possible deal for Antoine Griezmann, according to The Independent.

The Frenchman announced his intention to leave Wanda Metropolitano last week and Barcelona has been touted as his most likely next destination.

However, Camp Nou officials are still not certain about meeting Griezmann's £108m ($137m) release clause, which could open the door for United to steal his signature.

Chelsea won't block Sarri joining Juventus


Chelsea will not stand in manager Maurizio Sarri's way if he looks to leave the club this summer, though they will inform Juventus they will require a £5 million ($6.3m) fee to release him from his contract.

The Blues hierarchy are understood to want a head coach who is passionate about working in west London to lead them into next season.

According to Marca, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is questioning his future at Santiago Bernabeu after a turbulent 2018-19 campaign.

The 33-year-old has spent the last 14 years of his career in the Spanish capital, but he is thinking about undertaking a new challenge next season.

Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain have expressed an interest in Ramos over the past year and could be tempted to launch summer bids.

Madrid set to offer Spurs Asensio for Eriksen


According to Don Balon, Real Madrid are prepared to offer Marco Asensio to Tottenham in exchange for Christian Eriksen.

The Blancos also want to receive a €70m ($78m, £62m) fee as part of the deal, given the Spaniard's age and standing at Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Spurs are only interested in a straight swap, which might mean both players end up staying put for another year.

Arjen Robben says politics at Real Madrid, and not just Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival, forced him to suffer a "difficult" exit from the club, but added his subsequent move to Bayern Munich was the best decision of his career.
