Burundian defender Karim Nizigiyimana has parted ways with Gor Mahia.

A source at K'Ogalo has revealed to Goal that the defender, who missed most part of last season, has decided to go for another challenge after refusing to extend his stay.

“It was not our problem but the players’. We wanted to keep him at Gor Mahia but he says the deal is not good enough. We have agreed as both parties to part ways and now that the contract is ending in January, we have allowed him to get another team.

“As Gor Mahia, we wish Karim all the best because he helped this club during his time here."

Goal exclusively reported on Tuesday that Gor Mahia were in dilemma to sort out the foreign quota rule before the season kicks-off.

The exit of Nizigiyimana means that the Kenyan champions have five foreigners - Rwandese Jacques Tuyisenge, Burundian Francis Mustafa, Uganda's Shafik Batambuze and Erisa Ssekisambu as well as Ivorian striker Ephrem Guikan.
