Rupia, who is currently four goals clear off the lead, is closing in on a transfer move to Zambian club Power Dynamos

The race for 2018 Kenyan Premier League Golden Boot could be thrown wide open should Elvis Rupia seal a deal to Zambia.

Rupia, who is currently four goals clear off the lead, is closing in on a deal with Power Dynamos. Nzoia Sugar chairman Yappets Mokua has confirmed to Goal Rupia's departure from the club.

"He had a release clause and Dynamos have triggered it. We have allowed him to join them because his mind was already made up.”

Should his long awaited transfer to Zambia come to pass, the deal, that is understood to be in the region of Sh1.5 million, will open a new race for the KPL Golden Boot.

Currently, ten players are within a touching distance with the leader. Nicholas Kipkurui has only Gor Mahia striker Jacques Tuyisenge and Mathare United's Clifford Alwanga to worry about going into the week 25, if Rupia gets out of the picture in the coming days.

Kipkurui and Tuyisenge are currently four goals behind Rupia who tops the chart with 15 goals while Alwanga is a behind the Zoo and Gor Mahia strikers.

Behind them is a crowded field of eight players only separated by one goal deficit.
