Koulibaly, Gueye, Diouf ‘honoured’ to make Senegal's World Cup squad

On Thursday, the Teranga Lions boss Aliou Cisse released his final squad list for the global showpiece in Russia

Kalidou Koulibaly, Idrissa Gueye, Mame Diouf, Keita Balde, Salif Sane and Badou Ndiaye have expressed their delight after making Senegal’s 23-man squad for the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

Aliou Cisse unveiled his team list for the tournament in Russia on Thursday as they get set for a return to the quadrennial showpiece after a 16-year absence.

Senegal were eliminated at the quarter-final stage of the World Cup in 2002, and they must negotiate their way past Poland, Japan, and Colombia in Group H to reach the knockout phase.

However, some of the invited players have taken to social media to share their excitement.

"A pride and an honour to be part of the 23 Lions who will fight at the World Cup," Koulibaly wrote on Instagram.

My best dream comes true, honour and pride to defend the colours of my country and to represent in the biggest competition," Balde wrote on Instagram.

"The Lions are coming! What a honour it is to play for my country at this year's World Cup," Ndiaye wrote on Instagram.

"Thank God," Sane posted.
