Katsina United’s Abdullahi Biffo has stated that it will be difficult for Kwara United to stand in their way and the semi-final ticket of the Federation Cup after both teams are drawn to face-off in the last four of the oldest club competition in Nigeria.
The Chanji Boys defied the odds to beat Plateau United 1-0 through Chinedu Ajanah’s dying minute goal and a place in the quarter-final as runners-up from Group A behind Enyimba.
The former Abia Warriors coach admitted that though they were not given any chance to qualify from Group A with Enyimba and Plateau United heavily favoured he said that he charged his players to try and make a name for themselves and was extremely happy that they proved doubters wrong.
“I can only praise my players for a job well done because it is not easy to be written off before the start of a competition. So many people gave the group’s tickets to Enyimba and Plateau United but I told my players that they can write their own story and they have done that,” Biffo told Goal.
“I told them that they can prove bookmakers wrong and they did just that. We are up against Kwara United in the quarter-final and what I see ahead if a bright future for these players. We have equal chances of progressing to the semi-final against Kwara United and I will like my players to enjoy themselves again.
“We deserve something better than a loss against Enyimba which many could attest to but my players changed the narratives from the second game against J. Atete and the one we won against Plateau United. They were two difficult games but we came out in flying colours.”
Katsina United will face Kwara United in Lagos on Wednesday in one of the last eight games.
