Kariobangi Sharks maul AFC Leopards in Machakos

George Abege’s brace helped Kariobangi Sharks pick four points from AFC Leopards this season following a 3-1 victory on Tuesday.

The defeat dented AFC Leopards' dream of a top-two finish after they failed to bridge the gap between them and second placed-Bandari.

Abege scored in either half to add to Duke Abuya’s second goal that ensured that Ingwe will have to wait for the new season to start proper plans on how to catch the slippery Sharks.

Abege gave Sharks the lead in the 12th minute before Whyvonne Isaza canceled out the lead four minutes later. Abuya then restored Sharks lead immediately after the restart before brace-hero Abege put the game beyond reach for Ingwe with a third goal in the 64th minute.

Isuza could have leveled thing up on two occasions, but he was denied by Gad Mathews, who pulled two successive saves to keep Ingwe at bay.

Sharks, who played a 1-1 draw with Ingwe in the first leg, took their winning record to four successive games, even though they did not move a place on the log. Sharks remained sixth with 46 points, one behind Kakamega Homeboyz and just five adrift of third laced AFC Leopards.

Ingwe have won only one of their last four games; a 2-1 victory over Posta Rangers that came against the backdrop of defeats at the hands of Wazito and Gor Mahia.
