"I have worked so hard during throughout the pre-season to ensure that I maintain the tempo of my first season in the top-flight last season."

The tie eventually ended in a 2-2 stalemate as the Chanji Boys fought back on two occasions to deny their visitors the maximum point.

“It was a game filled with so much drama and I must admit that the match officials contributed their part to ensure that we do not win the match despite all our resolve to do so. We had a good off-season and we wanted it to reflect right from the start of the season," he said.

“It was unfortunate that we could only settle for a draw but we have to take it and concentrate on our next game at the mid-week against Nasarawa United.

"I know that our fans have endured a torrid time with us for some seasons now that because of our inability to replicate what Kano Pillars are known for. I see something great on the way this season and I want our fans to be part of it all," he continued.

“They must comport themselves well in all our matches be it at home or away. They must desist from acts that could drag the club back. We as players will try our best to ensure that Pillars compete better this time around."
