Joel Obi, Echiejile join Eagles as camp swells for Poland

Torino midfielder Joel Obi and Cercle Brugge KSV’s Elderson Echiejile have joined Nigeria camp as the number of invited players for Poland friendly increased to 14 as at lunchtime on Tuesday.

Others present at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Wroclaw are Francis Uzoho, Stephen Eze, Shehu Abdullahi, John Ogu, Moses Simon and Kenneth Omeruo.

William Troost-Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Tyronne Ebuehi, Brian Idowu and Leon Balogun were the early birds as Gernot Rohr’s men prepare for the White and Reds.

While the likes of captain John Obi Mikel, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and Ahmed Musa are still being expected, the Super Eagles will have their first training on Tuesday evening.

Friday’s clash at the Municipal Stadium Wroclaw will be the first time both countries will be meeting at the international level.

The Polish team – ranked sixth in the world have zoned alongside Senegal, Colombia and Japan in Group H of the 2018 Fifa World Cup Russia.

While Nigeria must navigate their way past Argentina, Iceland and Croatia in Group to reach the knockout phase.
