Islam Slimani sends Leicester City to English Football League fourth round

The 29-year-old registered a second-half goal as the Foxes eliminated the Reds from the EFL Cup on Tuesday

Algeria international Islam Slimani sealed the victory for Leicester City in their 2-0 triumph over Liverpool to help them to the next round of the EFL Cup at the King Power Stadium.

Shinji Okazaki came off the bench to score the curtain raiser of the encounter after the first-half ended in a barren draw.

Islam Slimani then increased the deficit in the 78th minutes of the challenge when he fired into the top corner to mark his third goal of the season for Craig Shakespeare’s side.

Nigeria's, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ahmed Musa were unused substitutes while Wilfred Ndidi was replaced in the 84th minutes of the game.

Slimani will be looking forward to his first English Premier League goal when Leicester square up against Jurgen Klopp’s men on Saturday.
