ATK boss Steve Coppell wants his team to score more goals to win games and climb up the table. The Kolkata-based side are sixth on the table and will take on Chennaiyin FC on Sunday.

"We need to score more goals to win more games and get more points. One think I would say is that we lost two very strong centre forwards in Kalu Uche and Emiliano Alfaro. Alfaro didn’t even kick a ball for us. That’s bound to leave a bit of a gap. But we are working hard with the players we have to score more and convert the chances," Coppell said.

ATK will have six matches left to play once the league resumes after the AFC Asian Cup in January and Coppell wants his team to do well in the games before the break.

"For every team, the matches before the break is critical. You need to be in a good position before the Christmas break to be in a position to attack the last six games and be in a top-four spot. That’s what every team will be looking to do. There are a number of teams capable of winning 3-4 games on the trot. That has to be our ambition before the break. We are desperate to win our games."

Gerson Vieira has been pushed into the midfield and the move has found success with regards to stability at the back.

"I don’t the midfield is unsettled. When Pronay and Gerson have played together we have chopped and changed the wide players. Unfortunately Pronay is not available for this game due to a suspension.

"Eugeneson was injured very early last season and was out for a long time. We started slow in our first two games and then picked up points. Pronay has been significant to that. Along side we have had several strong midfielders and it is a hard central midfield to break into. He has been patient and he has to be. He is a very good player. It is a question of being patient."

Lastly, speaking about Sunday's opponents Chennaiyin, Coppell said, "We don’t think about the opposition. I know John and they are a proud champions. John is so proud of his team. Last game, they had some good chances but did not convert. I’m sure if they create chances, it is only a matter of time before they start to score.

"Last season, they were very efficient with set-pieces. They would attack the ball and have big players go after it. They haven’t had the returns this year and they are still good with the deliveries."
