ISL 2017: Miguel Angel Portugal hoping to improve defensive organisation against NorthEast United FC

Having been trounced 4-1 at Bengaluru, Delhi Dynamos coach Miguel Angel Portugal took comfort in the fact that his side will be playing three home matches on the trot beginning with their encounter against NorthEast United FC on Saturday.

“I know my stadium. Our support, I think, will be the difference because it’s good to have fans supporting your team through the entire game. But that will be the only advantage we have in the match. We’ll have to play the game the same way as we did in the first two matches,” he said at the pre-match press conference in New Delhi.

The Spaniard however has not been impressed with his side’s defensive organization in the Indian Super League (ISL) so far. They have conceded six goals already in the two games they have played so far.

“It's a problem conceding six goals in two matches. But it’s not just about our defence; rather, it’s about the way we have been defending as a team. I don’t like it. Our philosophy is to press well and we have not been doing that and I’m worried about it,” Portugal said.

This will be the Dynamos’ first home-game of the fourth edition of the ISL with the club having played two matches on the road already.

Dynamos had beaten FC Pune City by 3-2 in their campaign opener before succumbing to defeat against Bengaluru FC.
