The India U-16 national team defeated Buriram United FC U-17 2-0 in the first match of their exposure trip to Thailand on Friday.
Bhuvnesh's opener in the third minute and Rohit Danu's 83rd-minute strike sealed the victory for India in a match dominated by the Blue Cubs.
It was a fiery start to the match as Bhuvnesh found the opener (3') in the initial stages of the match after he latched on to a cross delivered by Givson from the flanks. After the opening goal, India continued their domination of the ball and kept knocking on Buriram's goal.
The players headed for the tunnel with a scoreline of 1-0 in India's favour.
The floodgates could have opened after the break only if Bibiano Fernandes' boys had been more clinical in front of goal as a flurry of chances were created. In the 53rd minute, Ridge De’ Mello’s bullet header was saved by the opposition custodian and the keeper was called into action once again to keep out another venomous effort from Thoiba.
In the 80th minute, Bekey’s shot went inches wide of the goal but three minutes later, Rohit Danu did no mistake to find the net from inside the box to put the result to bed.
Givson could have added a third in the dying minutes of the match after he was fed by Danu from close quarters but he failed to find the net.
The Indian U-16 National Team will be up against U-17 Bangkok Glass FC on July 17 next.
