The Zimbabwe international has netted three goals in his last four league games and the Buccaneers are said to be keen to sign him

Maritzburg United have made it clear that Orlando Pirates target Evans Rusike will not be leaving the club this month.

The 27-year-old striker has been linked with the Buccaneers since last season and SuperSport United are said to have registered their interest in the prolific marksman in recent times.

Rusike is a key player for the Team of Choice having hit the back of the net seven times in 18 Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches this season.

As a result, he is second on the list of PSL top scorers, two goals behind Polokwane City striker Rodney Ramagalela, who is leading the pack with nine strikes.

On Friday, Maritzburg head coach Fadlu Davids stated that Rusike will not be leaving the club during the current Transfer Window.

“The (transfer) window will be closing soon and he is here. He is not leaving. He will stay with us,” Davids said.

Rusike opened the scoring as the Team of Choice drew 1-1 with Chippa United in a league game at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday.

SuperSport are known to be searching for an out-and-out striker after selling Jeremy Brockie to Mamelodi Sundowns.

However, Matsatsantsa managed to beef up their squad with the signing of Mogakolodi Ngele from Sundowns on a short-term loan deal.

Ngele, who has been linked with Pirates in the past, is a midfielder-come-striker and he helped Bidvest Wits win last season's PSL title.

It remains to be seen whether Bucs will be able to sign a prolific striker before the current Transfer Window closes with the club having confirmed that they are looking to beef up their striking department.

The Soweto giants have been linked with several strikers including Polokwane forward Ramagalela.

However, Polokwane head coach Bernard Molekwa has stated that they are highly unlikely to sell Ramagalela this month.

Rise and Shine could only listen to offers for the 28-year-old marksman at the end of the current season.
