Barcelona are readying a massive bid for the 24-year-old Italy star, but his team-mate believes that the decision may not come down to him

Marquinhos thinks Marco Verratti will still be a Paris Saint-Germain player next season, despite reports the Italy international wishes to move.

Lyon invite PSG Lacazette bid

Verratti is the subject of interest from Barcelona, who have been linked with a €100 million move for the player, but remains under contract in Paris for four more years, despite requesting to leave.

The 23-year-old Brazil defender is not convinced Verratti will remain at the Parc des Princes but is hopeful that he does and even suggested that PSG could force him to stay.

“I think we’re going to stay,” he told Sportv, while also discussing his own situation. “I have offers and I'm negotiating, but I am really happy in Paris. The club has a strong project and is always looking to bring in big players.

“PSG are not a selling club, they have an important project which focuses on forming a base around a style of play.”

Speaking specifically about Verratti’s future, he said: “I can't answer for him because it all depends on the negotiations, which, along with contract renewals, can go on for a long time.”

Verratti can help Barca beat Madrid

Verratti, 24, played 43 times in all competitions for PSG last season, scoring three goals and laying on eight more.

Marquinhos, meanwhile, was a mainstay of the defence, featuring 44 times and finding the net on four occasions.
