Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama mourns Mama Oliech

Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama led other Kenyan players in mourning the late Mama Mary Auma Oliech, the mother to Dennis Oliech.

Mama Oliech, as she is commonly known, passed away on Friday at her home in Lavington after developing difficulty in breathing.

And Wanyama, who took over the captain's armband from Oliech, paid tribute to the family as he condoled ‘my brother and friend’.

“I extend my deepest sympathies to my brother and friend Dennis and his family. I pray that God will grant you strength during this difficult time.”

Michael Olunga, who inherited Oliech’s position at the national team, also joined in mourning the departed.

"I extend my deepest sympathies to Denis Oliech and his family for the loss of their beloved mum. I pray that God grant you and your family strength during this dark moment. My heartfelt condolences."

The late Auma was also popular for her famous ‘Mama Oliech’ restaurant.

Mama Oliech was diagnosed with cancer five years ago and spent close to one year undergoing treatment in Paris where Oliech was playing football.
