Giovanni Solinas: Kaizer Chiefs fans really pushed the players against Cape Town City

The Amakhosi coach heaped praise on his side after defeating the Citizens away at the Mother City on Saturday

Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas has praised his charges, saying they deserved the win following their massive 4-1 win over Cape Town City on Saturday afternoon at the Cape Town Stadium.

The Soweto giants bagged their first league win of the 2018/19 campaign through goals from Siyabonga Ngezana, Khama Billiat's brace and Philani Zulu.

“I am very happy. My boys deserved to win the game and I want to thank my guys because they played a brilliant game. So, everyone played very well today,” Solinas told SuperSport TV.

The Italian coach also explained the changes he had to make after Leonardo Castro suffered an injury in the opening half. Castro was replaced by Bernard Parker.

On the other hand, coach Benni McCarthy's men suffered a massive blow after defender Taariq Fielies was red-carded for a second bookable offence.

The numerical advantage helped the Naturena-based outfit to capitalise and dominate the proceedings as they piled more pressure on the hosts.

“It's a pity that we lost Castro early after the 10th minute, but fortunately I have good players on the bench and they came on and played very well,” continued Solinas.

“Parker came on and played well. Pule (Ekstein), (Philani) Zulu, everybody's performance was very good,” added the manager.

“We created a lot of chances, but it's okay I am happy with the result and I am happy for our fans because our fans and supporters have helped us,” he said.

“They pushed the players in this result. So, this victory is for our fans,” concluded the coach.

Meanwhile, the Glamour Boys moved to seven points from six matches.

Moreover, they will now face Solinas' former club Free State Stars away at Bethlehem on Tuesday night and the Soweto giants will want to bag their second consecutive league win.
