Ghana SC: Kotoko 1-1 Bechem United: Porcupines held at home in Kumasi

Hosts Asante Kotoko were surprisingly forced to settle for a stalemate against Bechem United in matchday 10 of Ghana Special Competition played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday.

Goals from Bechem’s Prince Adu Kwabena and Abdul Fatawu of Kotoko sealed the fate of the meeting, which keeps the Porcupines in second position in Zone A, although now four points behind leaders Medeama.

Favoured to win the clash, Kotoko were stunned by the visitors, who took an early lead through Prince Adu Kwabena, who unleashed a long-range effort that dropped in the back net.

Immediately after, the home side took matters into hand and pushed forth in an attempt to grab the leveller, which paid off two minutes later.

Top scorer Abdul Fatawu stepped up to execute a 15-yards-out free-kick which went in successfully to put the scoreline at 1-1.

The first half ended with no more goals from both teams.

Back from the break, Kotoko continued to dominate but a lot of goal efforts were wasted by their forwards who could have handed the hosts a fashionable winning scoreline.

Bechem left Kumasi the happier side and will host leaders Medeama on matchday 11 on Sunday while Kotoko will play away to Ashanti Gold.
