Dybala sees Ronaldo factor giving Juventus 'great chance' for Champions League glory

The mere presence of Cristiano Ronaldo in their squad gives Juventus “a great chance to win the Champions League ”, says Paulo Dybala.

European glory has become a top target for the Bianconeri after establishing themselves as the dominant force in Serie A.

Seven successive domestic titles have Juve firmly at the summit of Italian football, but continental triumphs are proving much harder to come by.

Two finals have been made in the last four years, with La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid proving to be one obstacle too far.

Juve have raided the ranks at one of their conquerors in an effort to get themselves onto the top of the podium, with five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo adding proven pedigree in Turin.

Argentine frontman Dybala told the Daily Mirror of the club’s goals for 2018-19: "At Juventus, it's always the same objective - to win titles.

"It's true that this year, from the outside, the Champions League looks more like an obsession. But the focus is, as always, on the domestic title as well.

"We will have a great chance to win the Champions League this year. Ronaldo provides us with another option and is a very good player and this year we have been playing really well.

"Last year we played against Madrid... and we almost won! In four years we have played in two finals.

"I believe in previous years we have proven that we are capable to win, but we have had a bit of bad luck, especially what happened last year against Madrid.

"We haven't had the luck of winning the competition, but hopefully we do this season."

Juve need only to avoid defeat in their next Champions League outing against Valencia in order to book their place in the knockout stages.

They currently sit top of Group H, with a surprise home defeat to Manchester United last time out representing the only blot on their copybook.

In Serie A, meanwhile, Massimiliano Allegri’s side are unbeaten through 12 fixtures, winning 11 of those games, and are already six points clear of the chasing pack.
