Liverpool, having lost the Champions League final last year to Real Madrid, have a chance to make amends when they face Tottenham on Sunday. Sadio Mane will be one of those players who felt the agony in Kyiv last year and will be looking to set things right in Madrid.
Sadio Mane, along with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, have netted 44 goals over the last two seasons in the Champions League alone. Mane has 14 to his name - ten last season and four this time around.
The 27-year-old Mane has come leaps and bounds and under Jurgen Klopp and has made the left winger's position his own after his arrival from Southampton.
This season, the Senegal-born has scored 26 goals and provided five assists in 48 games in the Premier League and the Champions League.
In Europe, he scored in the 4-0 thrashing of Crvena Zvezda in the third matchday during the group stages apart from assisting Salah.
He also won his side a penalty that James Milner converted from the spot to score a consolation goal against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.
Arguably Mane's best performance of the season came against Bayern Munich away from home in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie. His two goals on the night were of the highest order, helping the Reds dump the Bavarian side out of the competition.
Playing in a more central role in the away leg of the quarterfinal against FC Porto, Mane first scored inside ten minutes and then produced a cheeky flick from a corner to help Virgil Van Dijk make it 6-1 on aggregate in the dying embers of the game.
Although he did not find the back of the net against Barcelona, the Senegalese will definitely be one of the most threatening players on the pitch.
