East Bengal eye fourth win on the trot as they gear up to face minnows Southern Samity in the fourth match of Calcutta Football League...

A confident East Bengal will take on a depleted Southern Samity in the fourth round of the Calcutta Football League (CFL) on Wednesday.

The Red and Golds are fresh from a thumping 5-1 win over Peerless last Saturday and will look to continue their winning streak against their next opponent.

Southern Samity has been underperforming from the very beginning of the season. They have managed to accumulate just 1 point from the first three rounds, conceding 6 goals and scoring none.

East Bengal already has two hat-trick heroes in their ranks. After VP Suhair’s heroics in the very first match, winger Surabuddin Mullick notched a brilliant triplet against Peerless in the last match after coming on as a substitute.

Surabuddin has worked well as a replacement for coach Khalid Jamil and he might just prove to be a super sub once again on Wednesday.

Goan winger Gabriel Fernandes, who had missed the first couple of games due to injury, came back strongly in the third match and had found the back of the net for his team.

The performances of the reserve bench players are something that will boost the confidence of Khalid.

The coach is not expected to make considerable changes in his starting XI and the fact that out-of-form striker Willis Plaza who was criticised heavily for his poor show shrugged off all the negativity around him by scoring his maiden goal this season against Peerless SC, is good news for the club.
