Cape Town City are favourites to win the league, says Bidvest Wits coach Hunt

The Citizens top the standings with 42 points, and Hunt strongly believes the fact that they are not playing continental football is helping them

On Monday, Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler bagged the Premier Soccer League (PSL) coach of the month award for March.

The Citizens have been the surprise package of the 2016/2017 league season and their impressive displays currently see them occupying the summit of the PSL table.

Last week, Pitso Mosimane stated that that he believes that the Citizens will clinch the PSL crown, and his sentiments have been echoed by Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt.

Hunt believes the Cape Town-based outfit has done well simply because they are not taking part in any Caf competitions.

"If you ask me who’s got the best run-in‚ I would say Cape Town City‚" Hunt told Times Media.

"They have got the best run-in. They have got all the big games at home. They’ve got Chiefs at home and us (Wits) at home," he said.

"The longer SuperSport stay in Caf‚ the longer Sundowns stay in Caf and the longer we stay in Caf the harder it will be for us," Hunt added.

"Pitso (Mosimane) said something the other day and he is right. No (Caf) Champions League for City," Hunt concluded.
