Bursaspor make Ghana striker Majeed Waris their top priority

Super Lig side Bursaspor have reportedly made Ghana’s Lorient striker Abdul Majeed Waris their top priority after missing out on Asamoah Gyan to Kayserispor.

Bursaspor coach Paul Le Guen is a keen admirer of Waris’ work rate and is pushing to lure him back to the Turkish top tier.

Waris hit nine goals in 35 appearances for Lorient last season but could not help them avoid relegation from the French top tier.

According to Turkish publication Fotomac, Waris has made enough impression on Le Guen and is keen to secure his capture either on an outright purchase or a loan deal.

The Green Crocodiles were beaten to their primary target, Gyan, by Kayserispor but have now set sight on another Black Star. They have also previously enquired about Waris' Les Merlus teammate and Cameroonian international Benjamin Moukandjo.

“We called his manager. We want to either buy or hire him,” Bursaspor President Ali Ay is quoted as saying.

The 25-year-old moved to France after a failed stint with Trabzonspor during the 2014/15 season.

He has also turned out for BK Hacken, Spartak Moscow and Valenciennes.
