Three goals in 15 minutes from Alex Brosque has seen Sydney FC dispatch a 10-man Central Coast Mariners 5-2 at Jubilee Stadium.
Starting the game on the front foot, the Mariners would grab a deserved opener in the 16th minute after Connor Pain weaved his way into Sydney's box and fired past Andrew Redmayne.
Central Coast's bright start was however overshadowed 10 minutes later as defender Kalifa Cisse was shown a second yellow card in quick succession and left the field after a heated exchange with Mariners coaching staff.
A misfiring Sky Blues failed to make the most of their numerical advantage in the first-half but quickly pulled level in the second as Alex Brosque flicked the ball home in 49th minute.
Three minutes later, Sydney would take the lead as Adam Le Fondre won a questionable penalty before smashing the ball past Ben Kennedy.
Smelling blood, the Sky Blues made it 3-1 in the 58th minute as Brosque finished at the second time of asking after being picked out by Le Fondre.
Brosque then wrapped up a 15-minute hat-trick in the 64th minute as he chipped Kennedy from distance.
With the game slipping from their grasp after a whirlwind few minutes, the Mariners would hit back just two minutes later as Aiden O'Neill picked out the bottom left after great build-up from Matthew Millar.
Sydney FC would have the final say in the 90th minute however as Aaron Calver rifled the ball into the bottom left from a tight angle to a secure a 5-2 win for Steve Corica's side.
