Barbara Banda reflects on goal-scoring debut with EDF Logrono

Barbara Banda says ‘it was a great feeling’ scoring on her debut in the Spanish women Superliga with EDF Logrono after a 2-0 home win over SC Huelva at the Estadio Las Gaunas.

Having recorded their first win in a 4-3 victory at Sevilla, the topflight debutants were eyeing a second triumph to leave the bottom places and the Zambian scored the winner on Saturday.

And the Shepolopolo striker, who became the first Zambian to make a move to Europe, is joyful at the warm reception with her new club and is eager to make a huge success in Spain.

“It was not an easy game because it was my first game but it was a great feeling and encouraging to myself to have scored,” Banda told Goal.

“I love my former team back at home but I think this is a good move for me so that my friends will be encouraged as well so that they aim high. So far so good, I can't complain about my settlement here.

“Everything is fine and I am happy with everyone on the team. About helping my team, it's a must thing as the same way that I’ve started helping the team that's how to go about it. I have not changed anything. I am still the same Barbara for the Shepolopolo.

“My ambition with the club is to work together with everyone and mostly to contribute a lot to the club. So far, so good I am happy with my (Zambia) team and just wishing them all the best in their preparation because I have not joined them yet.”
