Ban lifted on Kuwaiti Football, Infantino confirms

Gianni Infantino confirmed the end of the ban on Kuwaiti football which prevented them from playing in external competitions for over two years.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that the ban on Kuwaiti football has been lifted, after a surprise visit to Kuwait City on Wednesday morning. In a video released to the public, Infantino revealed that the ban has been lifted, standing alongside the Minister of Trade and Industry Khaled Al Rowdan.

It was only in 2015 when FIFA decided to ban Kuwait from regional, continental and international football when the government was interfering in the work of the football associations present in the country.

Infantino will be present at a press conference in the Jaber International Stadium soon to officially announce the end of the ban. The ban had already prevented Kuwaiti clubs from participating in the continental AFC Cup and the Kuwaiti National Team from playing in the FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifiers and the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. This will signal the return of Kuwaiti football back to normal.

Praise and congratulations was received from everywhere, including former Kuwaiti FA President Shaikh Talal Al Fahd and President of Saudi General Sports Authority Turki Al Shaikh; the latter sparking regional controversy with his congratulatory tweet to Kuwait.
