Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Thomas Partey has warned Ghanaian players not to give Kenyan striker Michael Olunga any chance when Harambee Stars hosts the Black Stars in the Afcon qualifier on Saturday.

Partey knows Olunga too well, having watched Kenya's lead striker closely in the Spanish La Liga last season; when Olunga was on loan at Girona FC.

While the Kenyan forward has since moved to Japan, Partey still remembers Olunga's hat-trick for Girona against Las Palmas, going ahead to warn that Kenya's goal-poacher can punish an opponent from the slightest of a chance.

“He's a good player. He scored in some matches in La Liga and we need to be very careful not to give him a chance," Partey told Goal in an interview.

The 25-year-old midfielder is, however, upbeat that the Black Stars will shine brighter than the Stars, but not without breaking a sweat.

“We’ve done a lot of work in training. I think we are well prepared to win this game tomorrow. It is not going to be an easy match though. We have to do our job because we can’t underrate Kenyan players."

Ghana will be seeking to make a return to the continental stage after a poor show in the last edition where they came a distant fourth.

Ghana started her campaign on a high note, after defeating Ethiopia 5-0. A brace from Raphael Dwamena and goals apiece from Gyan, Ebenezer Ofori and Boye were enough to hand Walya Antelopes a lesson.

The Black Stars will be aiming at getting maximum points against their hosts Kenya, who went down 2-1 away to Sierra Leone in their opener.
