The Socceroos have found themselves in Group B for the upcoming Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates drawn alongside Syria, Jordan and Palestine.
Looking to defend their 2015 crown, Australia are particular familiar with group opponents Syria, who they played in a World Cup qualification play-off earlier this year.
An extra-time Tim Cahill goal was the difference on that occasion with Syria showing plenty of spirit and proving they won't be an easy opponent come January.
Ranked 40th in the world, the Socceroos are statistically strong favourites to emerge from the group with Syria ranked 76th, Jordan 117th and Palestine 83rd.
The tournament begins on January 5, taking place across several stadium spread across the UAE with the winners set to pocket US $5 million in prize money.
