Barnsley have shortlisted Ghana defender Andy Yiadom for their Player of the Month of March award.

The full-back is among five contestants announced via the club’s official website.

Midfielders Brad Potts and Gary Gardener are also in the running, as are strikers Kieffer Moore and Oli McBurnie, who each netted twice during the month.

Despite the good showing of the five men, The Tykes did not fare well during the period as they lost three and drew two of five English Championship games.

Yiadom featured in four of the five matches, lasting for the entire duration each time.

So far this season, the 26-year-old has made 26 league appearances, involving 25 starts, for the Tykes, who sit third from bottom on the table.

He joined Barnsley from Barnet in summer last year, having played for fellow lower division sides Braintree Town and Hayes &Yeading FC.

During last summer’s transfer window, the London-born was the subject of a transfer tussle between Premier League sides Huddersfield Town and Swansea City.

Keen on moving up the ladder to play elite division football, the Black Star was unable to land a transfer due to a reported failed medical at Huddersfield.

All is not lost for Yiadom as Swansea still hold hopes of securing his services during the next window.
