The Promise Keepers will battle the Changi Boys and the defender is promising that his mates will fight for a tangible result in Katsina

Akwa United's Emmanuel Ariwachukwu assures his side will do battle for a positive result against Katsina United in Thursday's rescheduled Nigeria topflight encounter.

The Promise Keepers are going into the clash on the back of narrowly escaping a home defeat in a 1-1 draw against Abia Warriors and would aim to avoid a defeat in Katsina.

And the defender has taken responsibility for their below-par performance against Uchendu Warriors last Sunday, while he is optimistic about a better display against Abdullahi Biffo's men.

"I take responsibility for the goal we conceded as the captain for the match," Ariwachukwu told Goal.

"Normally, I was supposed to do everything possible to defend it. But I am going to work more on my ability, though I felt bad that we let in such a goal.

"We had chances in the first half and If we had been able to convert some of them, we would not have been faced with much pressure.

"We usually wake up more to play better when we are behind but we will work hard to address the issue."

He further admits that his side are facing a difficult time, especially in the aspect of goalscoring, while he pledges they will work hard to improve on their defending.

"This is football and I might say we are in our hard times' team because can score as much as many goals we always wanted.

"I can assure that we will make improvements in regards to our communications between the defense and the goalkeeper and do better in our next matches," he continued.

"We will keep working hard until we get back to our best. We have two away games [against Katsina United and Rivers United] ahead of us and we must work hard to getting something."

A win in Katsina on Thursday would see the Promise Keepers displace Lobi Stars at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League log.
