Akunnor, Owu pick Ghana PL awards for June

Ashanti Gold coach C.K Akunnor and goalkeeper George Owu have been named Ghana Premier League Coach of the Month and Player of the Month respectively for June.

Akunnor beats competitions from Wafa coach Klaavs Rasmussen and Tema Youth boss Edward Nii Odoom to become the third coach to pick the accolade in this campaign.

Owu, on the other hand, kept four clean sheets and saved one penalty against Medeama. He was picked ahead of Wa All Stars midfielder David Abagna Sandan and Tema Youth's Joseph Paintsil, who netted three goals in three games.

Akunnor and Owu will be presented with their awards on Sunday when they welcome table toppers Wafa to the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

In May, Medeama coach Evans Adotey and striker Bernard Ofori were winners of the awards.
