Aguero denies drug accusations against family

Sergio Aguero has emphatically denied reports that a member of his family was held in connection with a drugs raid carried out in his native Argentina.

The Buenos Aires Police carried out an operation in the Eucaliptos neighbourhood of Quilmes, on the outskirts of the nation's capital and Aguero's first home.

The home of Aguero's paternal grandmother was allegedly the focus of the raid, ordered in connection with an investigation into the sale of drugs and stolen goods and which ended with the arrest of another woman, purportedly a relative of the Manchester City player, as well as the seizing of 200 grams of marijuana and several firearms.

But in a message sent on Twitter following the news, El Kun insisted that the events had no connection with his grandmother or anyone else in his family.

"I do not usually respond to rumours but in this case my family is involved and I cannot, will not let this go," the striker wrote on the social network.

"The media stories that are circulating are false. My paternal grandparents have sadly passed away, and my maternal grandparents live in Tucuman."
