They may be guaranteed a spot in the top six, but Adelaide United's injury curse has struck again at the wrong end of the season with foreign striker Dzengis Cavusevic ruled out for the remainder of the season after rupturing his ACL.
The Slovenian only arrived at the Reds in January making four appearances and scoring one goal before succumbing to an injury he's suffered from twice previously in his career.
Cavusevic will now be sidelined for around nine months and having signed a short-term deal with Adelaide his future down under is uncertain.
Injuries have been plaguing Marco Kurz's side this season with marquee Johan Absalonsen only recently returning from a considerable injury layoff.
It's been a similar story for Taylor Regan, Taerk Elrich and Vince Lia too, all of whom were sidelined for most of the season but have returned to action in recent weeks.
As it stands Cavusevic will be the Reds only absentee when they face Sydney FC on Sunday.
Adelaide are currently fifth, two points shy of fourth-placed Melbourne Victory and four clear of sixth-placed Brisbane Roar.
