That brings an end to our coverage of the Premier League fixture between Watford and Everton at Vicarage Road. Thank you very much for joining us. Goodbye!
Watford travel to QPR next time out for their FA Cup fifth round tie before later facing Cardiff in the league. Everton, meanwhile, have a slight break before returning to action to face Cardiff.
After an incredibly hard-fought contest, Watford come away with all three points. Sigurdsson’s looping effort struck the bar five minutes into the second half, but the hosts took the lead when Hughes’ ball across goal following a well-worked move was turned home by Gray after 65 minutes. Everton had chances to draw level at the end through Digne and Calvert-Lewin, while Tosun had a glorious opportunity to equalise for the away side with only two minutes left to play, but his header sailed wide of the post from only a few yards out.
K. Zouma
Yellow 2nd/RC
90' + 5' Zouma's exchange with the referee now sees him shown a red card as the referee produces a second successive yellow.
K. Zouma
Yellow Card
90' + 5' Zouma confronts the referee after the final whistle and is shown a yellow card for his troubles.
90' + 5' FULL TIME: WATFORD 1-0 EVERTON
90' + 3' WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY! Bernard drives down the left wing and floats in a glorious ball towards the penalty spot. Foster is hesitant to come and claim the cross and somehow, from a matter of yards, Tosun send his header wide of the far post. What a chance!
90' + 2' Digne swings in a hopeful cross from the left and Calvert-Lewin’s glancing header is easily saved by Foster.
90' There will be four added minutes.
N. Chalobah
W. Hughes
90' The hosts make their final change as Hughes is replaced by Chalobah. The Englishman has been superb all match.
88' WHAT A CHANCE! Walcott breaks with real pace down the left before feeding the ball into the path of Zouma. The defender opens up the space on the left side of the box to cross the ball into the box, and somehow Calvert-Lewin fails to steer his header on target from a matter of yards. He should have done better there.
86' Kenny drives down the right-hand side and sends a cross into the box towards the near post. Cathcart gets across with Davies lurking and concedes a corner. The delivery from the right comes to nothing.
84' OFF THE BAR! Following the foul on Walcott, Digne tries his luck from an acute angle and his free-kick clips the top of the bar and goes behind for a goal-kick.
J. Holebas
Yellow Card
83' Walcott once again gets sent free down the right and Holebas pushes the attacker to the ground from behind. The Greek defender receives a yellow card.
T. Cleverley
Deulofeu
81' The home side make another change as Cleverley comes on to replace Deulofeu. The Spaniard has been brilliant today.
81' CHANCE! Walcott uses his pace superbly and gets away from Holebas down the right following a glorious pass from Gueye. The Englishman sends the ball into the box, but Tosun can only direct his effort wide of the near post. That is better from Everton.
80' Deeney once again cuts inside from the left and opens up the space to have an effort on goal from distance. Keane is quick to spot the danger and gets out to block the right-footed effort.
78' Gueye is this time brought to the ground by Gray as Everton look to force an opening and get themselves level. Just over 10 minutes to go.
76' Davies is brought down by Capoue on the right-hand side of the field. Digne’s delivery is headed towards the centre of the box by Zouma, but Cathcart is well placed to clear the ball to safety.
D. Calvert-Lewin
G. Sigurðsson
74' The away side make another change as Sigurdsson is replaced by Calvert-Lewin. It remains 1-0.
74' GOOD CHANCE! Following a cross from the left, the ball drops to Mariappa in the box, but he fails to keep his effort under the bar as his close-range strike sails over the top.
74' Watford are pressing for a second goal now and Deulofeu is seeing plenty of the ball down the left wing. Kenny continues to struggle with the Spaniard’s pace and trickery.
72' Kenny tries to slide the ball down the right wing for Walcott to run onto, but the experienced attacker just went a fraction too early and is flagged for offside.
T. Deeney
Yellow Card
70' Deeney receives the first yellow card of the match after cynically bringing down Zouma in Everton’s defensive third.
68' Watford broke the deadlock with only their second shot on target in the second half.
Bernard
Richarlison
66' Everton respond to going behind by making another substitution. Bernard replaces Richarlison.
W. Hughes
Assist
65' Hughes has been a real threat down that right side all game and once again Digne failed to track to the run of the Watford midfielder who superbly put it on a plate for Gray. That is an excellent goal from the home side.
A. Gray
Goal
65' GOAL! The substitute Gray gives Watford the lead! Janmaat swings a ball in from the right which Cathcart expertly flicks down the right wing for Hughes. The Englishman drives into the box before squaring it for Gray to poke into the net from close range. 1-0.
65' SO CLOSE! Hughes is brought down by Digne on the right side of the field and Capoue’s delivery is punched away by Pickford. Watford quickly work the ball out to the left for Holebas, and his driven delivery across goal is inches away from being turned home by Deeney.
T. Walcott
André Gomes
63' The visitors make their first change of the game as Gomes makes way for Walcott. Less than 30 minutes to go.
62' Tosun expertly spots the run in behind from Richarlison to his left and frees the Brazilian with a brilliant pass. Richarlison’s first touch is good, but Holebas shows great pace to get back and steal the ball away from the Everton attacker.
60' Everton continue to defend resolutely as Watford struggle to break them down. Capoue is forced to swing in an early cross from the right, but it evades everybody and runs out for a throw-in.
58' Digne drives down the left flank before playing the ball in field and straight into the path of Hughes. In trying to win the ball back, Everton’s French defender fouls Hughes. Free-kick Watford.
56' Watford have never won three home games in a row against the same opposition in the Premier League. Will they be able to find a way through in the remaining minutes?
54' Holebas floats in a corner from the right which Keane is able to head behind for another corner. The following corner comes to nothing.
53' WHAT A HIT! Holebas receives the ball down the left-hand side from Gray and looks to cut inside onto his right foot. The Greek defender unleashes a fierce right-footed effort from distance which just flashes wide of the far post.
51' OFF THE BAR! Digne swings in a dangerous cross from the left which Watford fail to clear. The ball eventually drops to Sigurdsson who loops it towards goal and his effort cannons off the top of the bar. So close to the opening goal.
49' Holebas attempts to launch a throw-in deep into the box towards Deeney, but Zouma rises highest to head the ball to safety.
47' Everton have started the second half well. Gomes picks the ball up from deep and looks to ping a pass over to the right for Richarlison. The long ball is slightly overhit and runs behind for a Watford goal-kick.
46' We are back underway! Everton get the second half kicked-off.
A. Gray
K. Sema
46' The hosts make one change at the break with Gray coming on to replace Sema.
Deulofeu grew into the match and looked a real threat towards the end of the first half. The Spaniard’s direct running and pace caused Kenny problems and that is an area which Watford will look to attack in the second half. Everton, meanwhile, have been unable to get Richarlison into the game. The Brazilian has found himself dropping deep on numerous occasions to try and make things happen. The visitors will look to get him involved further up the field going forward.
Following an even opening half of football, Watford and Everton go in all square at the break. Capoue had a glorious chance to give the hosts the lead after 12 minutes, but Pickford made an exceptional save from close range to deny the Frenchman. Tosun had Everton’s best opportunity of the half but his effort from the edge of the box was superbly saved by Foster after 35 minutes. Had it not been for some brilliant defending from Zouma two minutes from half time, then Watford could have found themselves in front at the break.
45' + 3' HALF TIME: WATFORD 0-0 EVERTON
45' + 1' BLOCK! Hughes gets played in down the left and pulls the ball back for Deulofeu who made a superb run towards the penalty spot. The Spaniard’s first-time effort is expertly blocked by Zouma who flew across to get in the way of the strike.
45' There will be three added minutes.
44' Doucoure brilliantly spots the run of Deulofeu to his left and slides the ball into the path of the Spaniard. Deulofeu looks to drive at Kenny and wins a corner off the Everton defender. The corner from the left is easily cleared.
42' Sigurdsson looks to slide the ball through for Tosun who made a smart run in behind the Watford defence, but the flag is up for offside.
41' Cathcart sprays a long ball out to the right for Deulofeu, but the Spaniard is deemed to have fouled Digne in the aerial duel.
39' It has been a highly competitive affair as we approach the 40-minute mark. Both sides are continuing to press well as they look to assert their authority on this one. It remains evenly balanced.
37' Holebas receives the ball down the left wing for Watford, but his early delivery into the box evades everyone and runs behind for an Everton goal-kick.
35' CHANCE! Watford fail to clear their lines down the left side of the pitch and Tosun picks up the loose ball on the edge of the penalty area. The Everton striker’s left-footed effort from the right side of the box towards the near post is brilliantly saved by Foster down low to his left.
33' There is going to be another brief stoppage in play as Richarlison is down and in need of medical assistance. The Brazilian is back to his feet and amongst the action once more.
31' This is Marco Silva’s first game at Vicarage Road as a visiting manager in the Premier League. During his time at Watford, he won just three of his 12 home games.
29' There is going to be a brief stoppage in play as Tosun is down and in need of treatment following a collision with Mariappa. The Everton forward should be fine to continue.
28' Doucoure skips beyond Gomes as he looks to drive into the Everton box, but Keane is on hand once more to come across and win the ball back for the visitors.
26' Davies knocks the ball beyond Mariappa and looked to be clean through on goal after beating the last man. Foster, however, was very quick off his line to come out and clear the ball to safety.
24' Holebas, the experienced Greek defender, is making his 100th appearance for Watford today.
22' GOOD SAVE! Digne works the space down the left to swing a cross into the box. Zouma rises well to meet the delivery and glance it towards the far post, but Foster smartly gets down to his left to make the save.
20' The away side are starting to control the game now. Richarlison is causing Holebas real problems down that side of the field.
19' CLOSE! Digne’s corner from the right is delivered right into the heart of the penalty area. Keane’s glancing header in the centre of the box just lacks the power to beat Foster.
17' Tosun expertly turns into space on the edge of the Watford penalty area, but as the forward looked to unleash an effort on goal, Mariappa got across to make a crucial tackle.
16' Everton manage to clear the ball long following some Watford pressure. Tosun is pushed to the ground by Mariappa and the away side win a free-kick on the halfway line.
14' Richarlison receives the ball from Kenny down the right side and delivers a perfectly whipped cross towards the far post. Mariappa is well positioned to head the ball to safety with Tosun lurking.
12' WHAT A CHANCE! Capoue slides the ball out to the right for Janmaat who made a glorious overlapping run. The defender cuts onto his left foot and swings a delivery into the box which Deeney is able to flick on for Capoue. The Frenchman’s effort from very close range is brilliantly saved by Pickford. Golden opportunity.
10' Deeney clips Richarlison in Everton’s own defensive third and the visitors win another free-kick.
9' Deeney receives the ball down the left and drives in field before lofting a pass towards the edge of the box for Deulofeu. The Spaniard’s first touch is heavy, and Keane is able to intercept the play.
7' Davies flies into a tackle rather late down the right side of the field, and fouls Capoue. Free-kick Watford.
5' Everton have started brightly and are seeing more of the ball in the opening stages of the game. Davies has been heavily involved thus far.
4' Davies is brought down by Capoue on the right wing. Sigurdsson’s free-kick from deep is easily claimed by Foster.
2' Kenny gives the ball away cheaply down the right-hand side, but Deeney is unable to make the most of the opportunity as Davies gets back to make the tackle and win possession back for Everton
1' Kick-off! Watford get the game underway.
