The Kampala-based side romped to victory to book their place in the next round of the continental competition

Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA FC) have progressed to the next round of the Caf Champions League after beating African Stars FC 2-0 at Lugogo StarTimes Stadium on Friday.

Left-footed Mustafa Kizza and Allan Okello scored the goals inside the last 10 minutes of the match to condemn the Namibian side to a 4-3 defeat on aggregate.

KCCA will now wait until Sunday to know their next opponent in the competition when Matlama of Comoros visit Angola’s Petro de Luanda. The Angolan side lead with a 2-0 advantage from the first leg encounter.

KCCA defender Peter Magambo saved his side from an early scare when he blocked the ball from crossing the goal line in the third minute after Chrispen Mbewe had beaten the hosts' goalkeeper Charles Lukwago, but saw his effort cleared off the line.

Sadat Anaku was blocked by African Stars defender Pat Nevin in the 10th minute as the KCCA striker chested the ball down and was ready to shoot at goal. Calm Nevin then robbed Anaku and cleared the ball into play.

KCCA nearly scored after Mike Mutyaba and Anaku made a good run into African Stars' area, but the later's shot was parried away by goalkeeper Uzuva-Vipua Tjimune in the 17th minute.

Tjimune denied Anaku once again in the 28th minute, when a fine build-up between Mutyaba and Allan Okello opened up the visitors' backline. Anaku was unable to do anything meaningful with the ball as Tjimune closed in on him and parried the ball away.

Mutyaba was also unable to make much use of an opportunity which presented itself in the 43rd minute as he hit the ball wide off target.

At the hour mark, Mustafa Kizza forced African Stars' goalkeeper Tjimune into a fine save as the two teams kept chasing for an otherwise elusive goal.

The Kampala-based side survived the 77th-minute scare when Lukwago was able to stop visiting striker Kaejarukapo Katijimune in a one-on-one situation. KCCA's back-line was caught napping as African Stars launched a quick counter-attack from the left-hand side of the pitch.

The Kasasiro Boys finally got a deserved goal in the 81st minute when Kizza managed to plant the ball into the bottom corner of the net from a free-kick 25 yards out.
