GAME PREVIEW
A couple of goals by captain Amarjit Kiyam gave Indian Arrows a 2-0 win over Kerala Blasters in the qualifiers of the 2019 Super Cup. Players like Boris Singh, Ninthoi Meetei and Prabsukhan Gill were all impressive against a hapless Kerala Blasters.
Coach Floyd Pinto has a few options to use in attack with the likes of Rohit Danu and Rahim Ali providing the firepower with Anwar Ali posted as the stallwart in defence. Several members of the Arrows team were also part of the 2020 AFC (Asian Football Confederaition) U-23 Championship qualifiers with the India U-23 team where they suffered two defeats.
This will be Arrows' toughest test because they will be up against an attacking FC Goa side who could make a claim to be the best forwardline in the country.
On the other hand, Sergio Lobera will be leading FC Goa in the competition with an eye on the silverware after losing the 2018-19 Indian Super League (ISL) final against Bengaluru FC. FC Goa will be without Moroccan midfielder Ahmed Jahouh.
The Gaurs, known for their free-scoring style of play, will be looking to land their first title in five years. After coming close to land the ISL championship twice, including the 2015 edition, they will be looking to get past the semi-finals in the Super Cup this time around.
Lobera may opt to give some of the youngsters like Liston Colaco and Savior Gama more gametime, especially after the latter stepped up and delivered in the absense of Mandar Rao Dessai in the ISL final.
