ATK v Chennaiyin Live Commentary,
Brought to you by
FULL TIME: ATK 0-2 Chennaiyin FC
90' + 4'
As it stands, it will be FC Goa versus Chennaiyin FC in the final of the 2019 Super Cup at the Kalinga Stadium on Saturday, 13 April.
90' + 2'
Chennaiyin looking to see this out as they put numbers in their own box. Can ATK find a consolation?
Five minutes added on.
CLOSE! Nelson releases Thoi on the right and the winger plants the shot on the nearside, Debjit gets some fingers to it despite it going straight to the side-netting!
After that end-to-end stuff from both sides, sanity has returned to this game and Chennaiyin have resumed normal service to play the ball around among themselves.
What a passage of play! Karanjit saves and his defenders block to initiate a counter. Ball is released for Thoi who darts on the right flank forward but his angled attempt to send the ball in has been intercepted by Ankit.
SAVED! Quick one-two from Hitesh and Eugene. The latter unleashes a shot and that was going goalwards after a deflection off Thapa. Karanjit parries it off.
Thoi Singh will come on for Chris Herd.
SAVED! Lanzarote with a whipper of a freekick and Karanjit does well to punch it out somehow!
Freekick for ATK on the right hand side out of the box. Can Lanza take advantage?
Hitesh Sharma comes on for Jayesh Rane, who failed to get going against his former employers.
Ball looped in from the centre and Karanjit sends it out for a corner. Lanza swings it from the flag and Ganesh takes a hit keeping Bikey at bay.
Thapa! He controls the ball near the corner flag, sends it to Vineeth and his shot is blocked. Thapa gets it and plays an intended backpass for Augusto but the Brazilian has moved away from that spot.
Mailson Alves is back on the pitch after an injury concern.
Another substitution for ATK as Kotal goes off for Ankit.
Corner for Chennaiyin and Eugene clears it. Santos runs on the left wing and Nelson fouls him from behind. Yellow for the Dutchman.
Everton Santos will replace Edu Garcia.
Dinliana plays Nelson who plays it diagonal to Thapa. Kotal is out of position and Thapa uses his left foot to drill the ball in! 2-0 to Chennaiyin!
GOOOAAL!! Anirudh Thapa helps the Blues double the lead!
Two on three for ATK on the attack. Two men draw towards Rane and Balwant keeps himself onside but the pass from the former Chennaiyin man goes to the goalkeeper.
Karanjit goes down after defending his post from that cross in.
Thapa does ever so well to regain composure after being challenged by Johnson, leaves Kotal for dead and goes near the byline to pull in the cross. Vineeth leaps over Ricky and puts it past Debjit!
GOOOAAL!!! CK Vineeth heads in the opener of the night! 0-1 to Chennaiyin!
SAVED! Mailson Alves goes for goal from a freekick on the centre circle. Debjit, off his line, gets back and tips it over. Ambitious.
Double block from Kotal. Nelson glides in with the ball from the left and the former Dynamos skipper emerges the winner on the duel.
We are back for the second half...
HALF TIME: ATK 0-0 Chennaiyin.
45' + 2'
Late corner for Chennaiyin and Edu Garcia clears it on the nearpost. That will be it for a drab first half.
45' + 1'
Two minutes added time given.
Chennaiyin have been the team with the lion's share of possession but there has been an evident lack of quality in making the goals tonight.
Yellow card for Herd as he slaps Lanzarote on the throat. Quite nasty from the Aussie.
Chance! Nelson crosses into the farpost and Thapa is lazy to tap in with his left foot. Instead, he tangles himself.
Eugene shows his wit in sending the ball with his toes into the box for Balwant. Too much power and the striker was already in an offside position.
Kotal makes a brilliant run from the right to go past Rinzuala and Sabia. His awkward cross does no help to ATK's fortunes.
Very poor from Vineeth here as he has acres of space dribbling on the flank. His intended cross for Nelson goes for a throw-in on the other side. Imagine!
A frustrated Balwant goes flat and long, not very powerful as Karanjit will collect it easily.
Augusto makes his way into the box with some flair. Kotal plays Vineeth offside and that is saving grace for ATK as Debjit's glovework was as good as a fish out of water.
Solid! Kotal's cross is cleared off by Alves but Rane follows up and takes a shot from the edge of the box. Herd commits his body on the line.
Really not Rane's day today, yet. Edu Garcia has changed flanks and does well to bypass the fullback to open up Rane inside the box. Takes a couple of turns but Alves and Sabia snatch the ball away.
Ouch! Thapa is down again after tackling Johnson himself.
Rane out of ideas here! Fails to control and then gets it back from Kotal. Ultimately plays the back pass and Ricky does better to accelerate and send the ball into the box but Sabia takes care of it.
Woah! Augusto lobs the ball in for Thapa and Debjit punches it out. The India international collides with Ricky and he will need some medical attention.
Chennaiyin get the first corner of the game. Whipped in by Nelson, Alves is brought down by Johnson and Ganesh makes a free run but fails to connect! No penalty appeals? Shocking in today's age.
While Chennaiyin try to keep the ball, they haven't been able to unlock the ATK midfield to rove forward.
OH DEAR! Lanzarote has been hacked down by Herd and things are getting heated up after an off-the-ball incident. Referee Rahul Kumar Gupta misses it.
WIDE! Build up from the right for ATK and Eugeneson, whose right foot tormented opposition defenders once upon a time lashes in on the angle from range. Goes off the farpost but Balwant could have done better to give it a chase.
ALMOST! Augusto with some nifty stepovers finds an overlapping Jerry. The leftback darts in a low cross and Vineeth on the nearside manages to tap inches wide despite being held back by Bikey.
OVER! Rane on the right squares the ball poorly and Balwant has to regain control near the arc. Tips it back to Lanzarote who pulls the trigger from range, lands in Chilika Lake.
Edu Garcia, operating from the left wing has been released from midfield but Thapa gets a slight deflection on the ball and it runs off his reach.
Chennaiyin have a freekick right away from the left side. Ricky sticks a foot out and the looping delivery goalwards is blocked.
John Gregory has gone for the extra foreigner in Chris Herd as he replaces Jeje Lalpekhlua from their 2-1 quarter-final win over NorthEast United. Also, Jerry Lalrinzuala makes his first appearance this calendar year as Tondonba drops to the bench.
Steve Coppell brings in Eugeneson Lyngdoh for a suspended Pronay Halder. Edu Garcia also returns with Everton Santos taking up a spot in the bench after the Kolkata side won their quarterfinal against Delhi Dynamos 4-3!
