Who could be Black Stars’ next recruit after Williams, Salisu, Lamptey?

The Black Stars confirmed on Tuesday that a trio of heavyweights had committed their future to the Ghana national side ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Mohammed Salisu, Tariq Lamptey and Inaki Williams were all ‘unveiled’ as new Ghana players on Tuesday, much to the excitement of Black Stars fans on social media.

Yet these three are only the tip of the iceberg as far as Ghana’s potential national pool goes, with the Black Stars potentially able to call on several other high-profile players to bolster their ranks before Qatar.

Could any of these five sign on with the West African giants before the World Cup?

Still only 21, and an England international, Hudson-Odoi could have a decade of Ghana caps ahead of him if he opts to confirm his commitment to the Black Stars.

The Chelsea wideman has long been tipped to join up with the national side—particularly since he rejected the opportunity to play with England’s U-21s in August last year—but is yet to be unveiled by the Ghana Football Association.

Could he be in line to join the likes of Jordan Ayew, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku in providing competition for the Black Stars’ wide areas?

With Inaki Williams having confirmed he’s down to represent Ghana, will his brother Nico follow?

His ability to play with either foot could make him a fine asset in the final third, and while he’s just completed his first season of senior football in La Liga, the youngster’s promise is clear.

The 19-year-old made 34 La Liga appearances last term, although the World Cup may come too soon for him.

Having signed a new contract with Arsenal, it looks like Nketiah is optimistic about his prospects of becoming the Gunners’ leading man, particularly following the departures of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

Could he emerge as Ghana’s spearhead as well?

He’s an effective box striker—offering something different from the Black Stars’ current options—and could be a lethal option for the West Africans off the bench as well.

Nketiah has age on his side if he wants to build a legacy in international football.

Tipped for inclusion in Ghana’s squad for the Nigeria World Cup qualifying double-header, it ultimately didn’t happen for Owusu as delays in his documentation reportedly held him up.

He subsequently wasn’t involved in the international window at the start of the summer, but ought to still be considered as an option at right-back for the national side.

The 25-year-old—who represented the Netherlands at youth level—would now find himself competing with Lamptey in the pecking order for the Black Stars’ full-back berth.

Another Netherlands youth international, Brobbey featured for the Oranje up to U-17 level, but is yet to make the step up further.

He’s nonetheless got momentum on his side, as he returns to RasenBallsport Leipzig on the back of a strong loan spell at Dutch giants Ajax.

Brobbey scored seven in 11 in the Eredivisie last term to clinch the title—making up for a sluggish start to life in the Bundesliga—and he could well represent the future of Ghana’s striking options.
