Nigerians to watch this weekend

Goal preview the Nigerians expected to feature for their respective clubs around the world this weekend

  • Wilfred Ndidi - Leicester City

    Wilfred Ndidi

Ndidi featured as Leicester City suffered a bump in the road against Norwich City last time out, with their 1-1 draw seeing them fall 10 points behind relentless Liverpool.

The Foxes travel to seemingly outgoing champions Manchester City seeking to inflict a second successive defeat at the Etihad on Pep Guardiola’s charges.

While City kept their first Premier League clean sheet in nearly two months at Arsenal last week, expect fireworks in Saturday’s tea-time fixture with the East Midlands club likely to get a goal or two.

  • Alex Iwobi - Everton

    Alex Iwobi

Jettisoned by Arsenal in the summer, Iwobi has slowly made himself a valuable member of the Everton side.

The attacking midfielder faces a reunion with his old club and will be motivated to feature against the Gunners.

While both sides have struggled this season, the Toffees have experienced a mini resurgence under Duncan Ferguson’s interim spell and will fancy themselves against a North London side that are neither here nor there.

  • West Brom's Semi Ajayi

    Semi Ajayi

Consistent West Bromwich Albion are in a two-way battle with Leeds United for the Championship, as both sides show week in week out that they’re head and shoulders above the rest.

Ajayi has featured in every game for the Albion this term and is likely to play against fourth-placed Brentford this weekend.

While Slaven Bilic’s side remain unbeaten in 12, their tendency to concede goals may be exploited by Thomas Frank’s troops at the Hawthorns.

However, two away defeats on the spin for Brentford (at Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday) makes the league leaders favourite to come away with maximum points.
  • Eberechi Eze - QPR

    Eberechi Eze

Queens Park Rangers fell to a 5-3 defeat at the hands of Barnsley last weekend to end their three-game unbeaten run.

Eze and co. will fancy their chances of returning to winning ways when they play host to struggling Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

The visitors are winless in 10 games, with seven being defeats, so QPR will feel they’re facing just the right opponents after their rip-roaring defeat last time out.

  • Samuel Chukwueze Villarreal 2019-20

    Samuel Chukwueze

The youngster featured for just over an hour in Villarreal’s unforeseen 2-1 win at third-placed Sevilla on Sunday, but turned in an average performance.

He did sit out the Yellow Submarine’s 5-0 thrashing of Comillas on Wednesday and may be thrust back into the starting line-up for the visit of Getafe.

Having defeated one top side last time out, Javier Calleja will hope his players put in a repeat against the league’s fourth-placed team, as they seek successive scalps.

  • Paderborn's Jamilu Collins - 2019/20

    Jamilu Collins

Paderborn’s 2-0 defeat by joint-Bundesliga leaders Borussia Monchengladbach was foreseen owing to both sides’ position in the table, but this weekend’s clash with Eintracht Frankfurt could swing either way, given the pair are playing poorly.

The home side are bottom having claimed a paltry nine points from a possible 48, while Frankfurt have fared badly after the departures of Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic to sit in 12th-place with 18 points, just four above the drop zone.

Collins has been one of the former’s top players in the top flight this season, but his showings haven’t translated to points on board for the new boys.

Both out of form sides face off at the Benteler Arena, but Collins and co. who have five points from their last 15 are in better shape than the visiting team who have picked up just one point in as many games.

  • Ola Aina - Torino 2019-20

    Ola Aina

Torino failed to win their third consecutive game having thrown away a three-goal advantage against Hellas Verona to draw 3-3 last time out.

Aina played well in the encounter and may well keep his place against bottom-placed SPAL in gameweek 17.

The away side have lost seven times on their eight travels, meaning Walter Mazzarri’s charges are fancied to claim maximum points at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on Saturday.
  • Pablo Nascimento Castro and Moses Simon - Bordeaux vs Nantes

    Moses Simon

Nantes were beaten 1-0 by Strasbourg in their Coupe de la Ligue encounter in midweek and will look to make amends on Saturday when they face Angers.

Simon was the Canaries’ best player on Wednesday, and the wideman will want to pick up where he left off to help his side pick up a seventh home win of the season.

Nantes, who have 29 points from 18 games, could end the year in the top three if results elsewhere go their way.
