  • Andre Onana Ajax

In terms of picking a dream Cameroon team of current players, the Indomitable Lions are fortunate in that they can call upon the services of one of the world’s finest goalkeepers.

Onana was influential last term as Ajax clinched a domestic double, while he also made a series of commanding displays as the Dutch giants reached the Champions League semi-final.

A product of Barcelona’s La Masia, Onana is also technically proficient and would be comfortable with the ball at his feet in a 5-a-side environment.

  • Joel Matip | Schalke 04 and cameroon defender

    Joel Matip

He may not be an active member of the national side at the moment, after taking a hiatus from international duties, but Matip remains one of Africa’s finest defenders.

The centre-back overcame a slow start to life at Liverpool to establish himself as a key figure in Jurgen Klopp’s side last term, striking up a fine relationship with Virgil van Dijk en route to the Champions League title.

As well as being commanding, Matip is also comfortable in possession, and would protect Onana effectively.

  • Nicolas Nkoulou Egypt Cameroon AFCON 2017 Final

    Nicolas N’Koulou

Like Matip, N’Koulou is a cultured stopper who makes a significant contribution to a team’s defensive effort while also launching attacks himself.

He’s a big-game player—witness his goal in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations final victory over Egypt—and has featured for some of Europe’s biggest clubs following stints with AS Monaco, Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais.

He’d be the ideal link-man between defence and attack in Cameroon’s present-day 5-a-side team.

  • Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting Cameroon 2019

    Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

Perhaps the most high-profile Cameroonian footballer in the world today, Choupo-Moting is currently plying his trade at Paris Saint-Germain following spells with Mainz, Schalke 04 and Stoke City.

He’s a reigning French champion, having featured 22 times for PSG last term, although he did miss out on Cameroon’s Afcon success in 2017.

Choupo-Moting is a rare talent who marries a physical presence and technical class, making him a terrifying prospect for 5-a-side defences.

  • Karl Toko Ekambi Cameroon 2019

    Karl Toko Ekambi

Leading the line for this Cameroon 5-a-side dream team is Villarreal’s Toko Ekambi, who is currently impressing in one of Europe’s biggest leagues.

He’s scored five goals and contributed two assists in La Liga so far this term, and is on course to beat last season’s tally of 10.

Toko Ekambi’s agility, finishing and guile would make him a lethal prospect in the 5-a-side arena.
