Liverpool's injury crisis is finally showing signs of easing. Their squad has been decimated in the early weeks of the season, with performances and results suffering as a consequence.

But with the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip and Diogo Jota all returning to action recently, the situation suddenly looks a little brighter for Jurgen Klopp.

Things could be about to get even better, too, with Jordan Henderson, Ibrahima Konate and Curtis Jones all closing in on a return, although Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain sidelined.

Here’s the latest on Liverpool's missing men…

  • Naby Keita of Liverpool and Guinea.Getty.

What is going on with Naby Keita?

Keita hasn't been seen since he was an unused substitute for the draw against Crystal Palace in August, suffering what the club (and Klopp) have described as "a muscle injury" in training on the eve of the defeat to Manchester United.

Klopp stated prior to the Champions League win over Ajax that the Guinea midfielder was. expected back "at some point in October", meaning it is touch and go as to whether we will see him in action before the season breaks for World Cup.

    Expected return date: October.

  • Andy Robertson Liverpool 2022-23Getty

    Is Andy Robertson still injured?

The latest injury victim is left-back Robertson, who picked up a knee injury in the closing stages against Napoli and was ruled out of the win over Ajax, as well as Scotland's Nations League games.

Liverpool say the issue is not serious, and hope he will be available either for the Premier League game with Brighton or for the Champions League clash with Rangers.

    Expected return date: Early October.

    Any update on Jordan Henderson?

Henderson was forced off during the dramatic 2-1 win over Newcastle, with Klopp confirming afterwards that the captain had suffered a hamstring strain.

The diagnosis was a three-week absence, but postponements meant he missed only three games, and he was fit to join up with the England squad for their Nations League matches.

Expected return date: He'll be fit to face Brighton on Saturday.

    Is Ibrahima Konate back?

Another freak injury, the French defender suffered a knee problem following a collision in the Reds’ friendly defeat to Strasbourg at the end of July.

But Konate is understood to be ready to return to training ahead of the resumption of the Premier League season.

Expected return date: Due back in training before the game against Brighton on October 1.

  • Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Liverpool Crystal Palace friendly 2022-23Getty

How long will Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain be out for?

Another player with a chequered injury past, and a habit of picking up problems at the most inopportune moments.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has not been seen since tearing his hamstring against Crystal Palace in Singapore in July.

If this is to be his last season on Merseyside – his contract expires next summer – then he could not have started it in worse fashion. He, like Keita, has been excluded from the squad for the Champions League group stage.

    Expected return date: Mid/late October.

  • Curtis Jones - LiverpoolGetty Images

    What's happening with Curtis Jones?

Another player beset by injury troubles this season has been home-grown midfielder Jones, who suffered what was described as "a stress reaction" in his leg following the FA Community Shield in July.

He returned to the bench for the win over Newcastle, but has since been laid low again, missing the Merseyside derby and the defeat in Naples.

Expected return date: Nothing definite, but sources say he isn't far away from a return to full training.

  • Calvin Ramsay Liverpool 2022-23Getty Images

    Any news on Calvin Ramsay?

We haven’t yet seen the new £4.5 million ($5.4m) signing from Aberdeen yet, after a pre-season testing session flagged up a previously undetected issue with his back.

Ramsay is yet to train fully with his new team-mates, but is understood to be close to a return.

Expected return date: Nothing concrete, but Liverpool hope to see him in full training in the next fortnight.

  • Kaide Gordon Liverpool 2021-22Getty Images

    How about Kaide Gordon?

The talented teenager is another who is yet to feature in this pre-season with an as-yet-unspecified problem. He posted a picture of himself doing rehab at Kirkby recently, suggesting he is edging closer to a return.

Gordon, like Ramsay, will likely be given time with the U21s as he builds up his fitness.

    Expected return date: Unclear.
